Pinoy Blogging Culture

It can be noted that there are now more Filipinos actively blogging from all over the world. In fact, it has created a new breed of online personalities and celebrities. With so much content online generated through blogs, it created the need to track a lot of them to have a gist on what the blogging community is thinking at the moment.

Topics ranges from personal insights, lifestyle, to political. It even allowed the exchange of opinion on emotionally-charged issues affecting the country. As issues are discussed, more individuals and organizations find themselves exposed where their undertakings can be questioned or attacked. This is where bloggers gradually are realizing that there are also copyright and ethical concerns that they had to deal with.

One of the biggest accomplishment that Filipino bloggers have achieved is the staging blogging summits, iBlog and BlogCon, annually and be seen as a event to look forward to. This is the point where bloggers take time out to come together and exchange insights on various blogging developments.

Based on our Metro Manila Blogger Report, more than half of bloggers are very young. However, Angelo agreed with Maoi that the higher age segment with disposable income should seriously be considered for targeted marketing.

Which blog clicks - AdSense wise

I was staring at a Performancing.com report with amazement in my end. For the first time, I could actually see when and from which post are Google AdSense clicks are coming from. It is a great relief and inspiring as well.

One of my challenges in maintaining several blogs is finding out which blog clicks and generate Google AdSense revenue. To my surprise, a blog of mine that hardly gets any feedback or comment is the one getting visited the most and has received Google AdSense clicks as well. This I discovered after I started using Performancing.com (nearly a month ago).

Perhaps what made the blog clicked is I hardly talk about myself or thoughts in the said blog.

As I worked on this blog's content, I began getting the traffic but did not notice any improvement in the AdSense clicks. Except for one day where all the clicks are coming from an old post.

With this experience, I arrive with the following conclusion:

1. If your blog is only attracting fellow bloggers to read, don't expect any ad clicks from them. They hardly click unless you are displaying opportunities where their site could also generate revenue.

2. Non-bloggers are most keen to click on ads especially if they arrive at your site through a search engine result. Their desire to get more information primarily drives the reason why they are clicking on these ads.

I also learned that the most clicked article can effectively guide me in finding out what articles are users interested in, that brings them to my site.

Hmm...more insights...

Website Feature: PinoyTopBlogs.com

With so many Philippine websites coming out, I decided to start using this blog to feature them. Your comment on the websites featured here will be very much appreciated.

To start off, our first website feature is PinoyTopBlogs.com. This website of Abe Olandres gives bloggers an opportunity to have their blogs posted in the PinoyTopBlogs.com listing. Just logon to the site and create an account.

From there, you'll be able to add your website and get the needed HTML code to have the PinoyTopBlogs.com button in your website. Once in, your website traffic gets monitored and get listed or ranked according to it.

I guess those who joins the site are not there to be on a top or low spot, it is just a free publicity for blogs which is just great. Check it out!

Philippine Internet Review book 2

We are currently in the process in preparing for the book 2 of the Philippine Internet Review. Publishing the first issue was a big challenge. As we were not able to capture everything, we've decided to push for the 2nd edition recognizing e-government initiatives, blogging, gaming, and the influence of mobile phone to Internet infrastructure usage growth.

If you have not done so, buy a copy today of the Philippine Internet Review. Your support is very much appreciated.

Ideas and contributions are more than welcome!
